AETI SOLAR INVERTERS – MODULAR 500 A IGBT CONVERTERS
AETI’s compact inverter platform for Photovoltaic and Concentrated Solar Power Generation Systems are built upon a modular power pole design, digital signal processing control and split input boost and output grid tie inverter sections. The units are liquid to air exchanger cooled through 1000 amps for a two power modules in a single cabinet. Some of the features include

AETI’s solar inverters use voltage boosting front ends that provide improved overall DC power conversion efficiency that enables the MPPT to be spread over no more than 10 PV strings. Redundant 500 kW grid tie inverters provide additional efficiencies for the AC grid tie side for the 480 volt output.

AETI’s Solar Inverter platforms feature voltage boosting converter front ends that provide improved overall power conversion efficiency and wider maximum power point tracking. The boost converters are paralleled on a common DC bus for multiple input feeds to minimize cloud fade impacts and optimize maximum power point tracking per feed.  Multi-level paralleled and redundant 500 kW grid tie inverters provide additional efficiencies for the AC grid tie side for output to improved efficiency transformers to provide isolation and protection from grid transients due to lightning strikes.
The inverter platform mechanically consists of multiple units, including DC disconnect, boost converter, grid tie inverter and AC disconnect. The grid tie inverter consists of IGBT switches and produces a higher efficiency symmetrical, three-phase PWM modulated AC voltage to the grid.
The control is performed by a high performance digital signal processor. The processor controls the system based on the information it receives through measurements, parameter settings, control I/O and the control network. The system and application software controls the processors which, in turn, calculate the IGBT states.
Gate drivers amplify these signals for driving the IGBT converters and inverter bridges. The control keypad constitutes a link between the user and the inverter. The control keypad is used for parameter setting, reading status data and giving control commands. Once the inverter is programmed to the solar application, the software can be locked down so that the inverter operates automatically without any need for intervention under nominal conditions. The product will be available in NEMA 3R or containerized in complete solar conversion power houses.
